Il
Riposo is situated in a totally private position above the small hamlet of
Caroni San Cristoforo within the municipality of Caprese Michelangelo
(birthplace of – yes, you guessed it! - Michelangelo) in eastern
Tuscany. Although
it is possible to travel on foot to and from the village shops and bars, a
car is indispensable for going further afield.
Driving instructions to Il Riposo will be provided with confirmation of your booking.
Rather
than try to guess from where you’ll be arriving or taking a stab at how
much you know about the political geography of Italy, we’ve included a
link here that will allow you to access a map of Caprese Michelangelo,
Italy and zoom in or out to your preferred scale of reference and up or
down or left or right to your preferred starting point.
You can also use the site to access driving instructions.
Should you decide to book, we will provide you with details of our
preferred routing form your starting point, but the site’s information
will give you an idea of times to and from points not listed in this
section. Click

Michelangelo, Arezzo, Tuscany, Italy in
the Place Name box Then
click on Find a Map. Sometimes
it offers you the choice between 2 matching names. Select either, as the resulting maps are identical. The
scale of the resulting map can be increased or decreased and the
latitude/longitude shifted to suit your needs.

supplement the detailed information we will give you when you book.
Il
Riposo is easily accessed from the airports of Forlì (1 hr), Bologna (1½
hrs), Florence (1½ hrs), Perugia (1 hr), Ancona (2 hrs), Pisa (2½ hrs),
Rome (3 hrs) and Milan (3½ hrs from Linate; 4½ hrs from Malpensa). All
of these airports receive direct flights from Europe and many can be
accessed directly from America and the Far East. The
mainline train station linking eastern Tuscany to the major centres of
Italy and Europe is located in Arezzo, a 40 minute drive from Il Riposo.
If your departure point is in Europe, it is also possible in most
seasons to bring your own car as far as Bologna on the car-train. For
those traveling directly from their home to Il Riposo by car, we are
pleased to provide useful suggestions for driving itineraries,
accommodation and (our favourite!) restaurants.
Car
hire can be easily arranged for collection at the many airports that are
convenient to Il Riposo or at the nearby Arezzo train station. |
